IMS Acupuncture

A specialised form of acupuncture for the treatment of difficult pain & injury. Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) specifically targets the nervous system, resetting the muscle spindle reflex arc & length-tension of shortened muscle groups. A detailed assessment is required prior to a course of IMS treatment. Treatments are once-a-week and duration varies according to the nature of the pain / injury. Visit www.istop.org for a detailed description of the physiology involved in IMS treatment.

Conditions helped with IMS

Cranial Sacral Therapy

A bio-energetic treatment that involves tiny feather-weight adjustments of the bones of the skull and spine to re-balance the central nervous system. The treatment works with the cranial sacral rhythm & brings it to a still-point around a tissue restriction, inducing release and “unwinding” the whole body system.

Therapeutic Yoga

A biomechanical alignment assessment of the spine, pelvis & peripheral joints. Incorporates deep core strengthening practises taught in the context of Hatha Flow yoga. Learn muscle energy techniques that correct pelvis, spine, and sacral alignment. No previous yoga experience is required. (All Levels Welcome)

What is physiotherapy

What is physiotherapy? There are many excellent web-sites explaining this inquiry, and rather than re-inventing the wheel, we’ll direct you to:

A) Australia

http://www.physiotherapy.asn.au/index.php/physiotherapy-a-you/physiotherapy-a-you

B) Britain

http://www.csp.org.uk/director/public/whatphysiotherapy.cfm

C) Canada

http://www.physiotherapy.ca/

Canada came third for a simply reason - the site does not explain a lot.

D) Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_therapy

E) Eire

http://www.iscp.ie/content/view/25/505/

F) New Zealand

http://www.physiotherapy.org.nz/Category?Action=View&Category_id=271

You may have noticed that regardless of your destination, the core message is that physiotherapy is used to assess, diagnose and treat physical conditions and illnesses that affect people in all ages and social groups, to assist in preventing injuries in the workplace or on the sports field, and to promote healthier lifestyles for all.
